Man…Narcissus

1
Who has ever dived
into the polluted lake of human feelings;
or has swam the vastness
of human imagination;
… has attempted to gauge
the intensity of human failures;
or  smashed his fist
into the weak fortitude of human ideals?

Who has attempted to scale
the extent of God’s love and presence;
or tried to explain life’s msyteries;
or tried to fathom the depth of Divine Wisdom?
Who has ever questioned
the rationale of his existence?
Who has heard the call of the changing times,
howling endless warnings?

But….

Man’s ears choose to hear
only  sounds of indifference.
Man’s eyes are hopelessly blinded
by masks of pretense.
Man’s hands and feet are bound
by chains of selfishness.
And …  man’s heart beats with a love
that can destroy humanity…
… and himself.
For man loves only himself.
Man is Narcissus personified.
Man… Narcissus.
Narcissus… Man.
